EXCHANGE/NOTES

Fax Server integrates closely with both mail platforms by linking the Microsoft Exchange Mail Server & Notes/Domino R5/R6 Servers with Desktop Faxing and Active Directory Database Synchronization Features, Creating a Fully Unified Fax and Email Solution.

Certified for Microsoft Windows 2000 and 2003, Open Text Fax Server gives you all the tools you need to fax-enable desktop and business applications. The Fax Server Microsoft Microsoft Exchange is an add-on to a Fax Server server, which acts as a communication link between the Fax Server server and the Microsoft Exchange server allowing users to conveniently send, receive and organize fax documents directly from Microsoft Outlook.

Outbound email messages addressed to the Fax Server Microsoft Microsoft Exchange are picked up by the Fax Server server, which converts them into faxes and transmits them. Incoming faxes can be routed to an email mailbox by specifying each Fax Server user's mailbox information in Enterprise Fax Manager.

The Fax Server Microsoft Microsoft Exchange can also provide notification of fax events via email. With the Fax Server Microsoft Microsoft Exchange, Fax Server and Active Directory databases can also be synchronized. This ensures that both Active Directory and Fax Server client information is consistently and correctly updated. Fax Server leverages Active Directory and provides robust synchronization capabilities. User synchronization can occur from Active Directory to Fax Server.

Fully customizable Fax Server field mappings allow administrators to perform all user maintenance from Windows by using the Fax Server Snap-in for Microsoft Management Console (MMC). Users created or modified in Active Directory are automatically updated in Fax Server. This not only simplifies user administration, but also ensures accuracy and consistency between servers, saving both time and resources.

The Fax Server Microsoft Microsoft Exchange also automatically routes incoming faxes as mail messages to Outlook mailboxes. Custom icons allow users to easily identify fax messages in their mailboxes. The fax image itself is saved in user's mail message as a file attachment. To view the fax, the user simply double-clicks the attachment icon or with the Advanced form, the fax automatically opens inside the inbox.

The Fax Server Connector for Lotus Notes links Lotus Notes with Fax Server desktop fax features to create a fully integrated fax and email solution. The gateway uses Fax Server to enable inbound and outbound faxing directly from the Lotus Notes client. Lotus Notes users need virtually no training to send and receive faxes because they use Notes in the same way they send and receive emails. Database synchronization between Lotus NoteslDomino and Fax Server allows unified administration of both servers, simplifying the creation and maintenance of user records in both systems.

At Fax Server technology is uniquely designed to complement and extend Lotus NoteslDomino functionality without drawing resources from those critical systems and applications. The Fax Server Connector for Lotus Notes architecture allows for both Fax Server and Domino servers to operate independently. Fax Server faxing capabilities are not impacted by scheduled or unscheduled downtime that may interrupt the Domino server.
